Conscientiously Designed Contracting
A home is more than four walls, it’s a sanctuary for life.
Our process
Conscientiously Designed Contracting provides Build, Design Build, and Spec Home services from Cache to Summit Counties. We focus on the client’s needs and then incorporate the site’s natural features. Where are the view corridors? What is the slope of the lot? How does the sun move across the sky in the winter and summer? Which direction does the wind blow? Then, we incorporate these features into the house design.
Typically, our clients have owned a home and are ready to move up or want a second destination to escape.
Unlike most other builders, we will build the house effectively three times. The first is the design, The second is to provide a detailed budget, and the third is when we pour concrete into the ground and put sticks in the air. Before we start building your house, you will have a budget we will stick to; that is our guarantee.
The current building code mandated by Utah is from 2009, but at C-D Contracting, we build to the 2023 code. This means an airtight house with more insulation – including some outside the sheathing but under the exterior siding. This minimizes the thermal bridging caused by the use of framing lumber. The result is a healthier home.
If you own a lot free and clear and are thinking about selling, you can partner with C-D Contracting, and we’ll build a spec home on the property and share in the upside when the house is sold.
“Conscientiously Designed Contracting helps bring to the design forefront the many nuances of maximizing the best features of the homesite, and then dovetails that into construction techniques that combine the best outcome.”

It all depends on the size of the house. Typically, the cost will run about $3.00 per square foot. However, the price may vary depending on the complexity and ultimate project size. If you bring in an architect and interior designer, the costs increase substantially. Additionally, there are structural and civil engineering costs that can cost between $0.75 to $2.00 per square foot.
Yes, this will save time and money. If you want a farmhouse and the plan you like is mountain modern, we can modify the plans to your liking. You will be charge is reasonable feet to make the changes. If the changes are extensive enough, the plans will require re- engineering. Which will add cost and time to the project.
Again, size matters as well as complexity of the build. A 3,000 to 4,000 home should take between 6 to 8 months to build. A larger home can take longer. A good builder will plan everything in advance and always have subcontractors onsite working on the next construction phase. Nothing upsets us more than when a build job sits idle.
- Not maximizing the view. The Isabella plan has 10 rooms, and only 1 room does not have a view of the main site line.
- Lighting sets the tone, mood, and intrigue. We hire a specialist to design the house lighting.
- Not having large or enough windows. Most designers try to be cost conscious and try to save money on windows. It is a mistake. Also, this plays into 1 and 2 above. You can’t see the view, nor have enough natural light, if you have too few windows.
- While we are not a feng shui experts, having a good flow and energy in the house makes your home just feel good. Again, we look to outside experts for guidance.
- Not using the site to enhance the design. Some homes are designed for an uphill slope, while others are designed for downhill slopes. The Isabella and Mariana have garages on the lowest level and have elevators or dumbwaiters to compensate. This prevents having to drive up a steep incline to get to the house. Additionally, the view corridor is in the front of the house, so all the prime living areas should take advantage of the front facing views. Alternatively, if you have a downhill sloped lot, the opposite is true.
